I strongly recommend using a keyboard to sing a long with for your vocal rehearsals. It is vital to become “ear trained” and to strengthen your vocal quality and control. No one likes to hear people sing “flat or sharp”!

A keyboard will help you train by matching the sound of the keys with your voice (explained in the free Sing Report).

Below I have provided you with some keyboards that you might consider. Remember that the least expensive the item usually denotes the cheaper the quality.

Casio SA-76 44 Key Mini Keyboard, Orange

Casio SA-76 44 Key Mini Keyboard, Orange

Customer Review:

This keyboard fits into my slightly larger backpack. Its portability allows me to carry it around and work out melodic and harmonic ideas for the songs I write when I’m away from home. The eight-note polyphony is really helpful for chording.

The tones are clear and reasonably distinctive, perhaps slightly less so in the brass. The rhythm patterns cover all the basics, and there’s more than enough volume control to play with. All in all, after two weeks of using it, I would say that this is a cool little keyboard!

Yamaha EZ-200 61 Full-Sized Touch Sensitive Lighted Keyboard Bundle

Yamaha EZ-200 61 Full-Sized Touch Sensitive Lighted Keyboard Bundle: Includes Professional Headphones, Keyboard Stand, and Power Supply

I personally like this keyboard for vocal rehearsal especially if you are a beginner. The keys light up letting you see the notes of the scale you will be singing (C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C). Great rehearsal tool!

Customer Review:

The keyboard comes with about 100 built-in songs, (a part of the Yamaha Educational Suite), which you can learn to play along with. (Personally, I have found it easier to buy the Bastien learning series books, as the songs that are included with this keyboard are in small print. This is just my experience, but since I am teaching myself to play, I have found these starter books to be a wonderful guide for an absolute beginner. I am already starting to play songs that I never dreamed possible! Wow, so cool…)

One thing that I really like about this keyboard is that it’s piano voice sounds just like a high-quality grand piano. Best of all, the keyboard is very simple to use — and not complicated.

Casio WK-500 76-Key Personal Keyboard

Casio WK-500 76-Key Personal Keyboard Package with Stand, Headphones and Power Supply

This is a nice keyboard to use when you need to rehearse your vocals.  It also comes with the extras in the picture above.

Customer Review:

All I really wanted when I was purchasing a keyboard was to be able to practice the piano in my own room without bothering my roommates. This purchase was exactly what I needed because the package came with headphones, the stand, and an adapter. I was able to start playing immediately after I set it up. I have enjoyed using it every day since!

Of course it’s not a real piano, so the touch-sensitive keys aren’t as good, the clicking of the keys when you press on them is a bit noisy, and the feel is a little different, but I adjusted easily and it hasn’t been an issue.
